There isn't any nominal pairs for tense/lax pairs like /?/ and /u/ in unstressed syllables, mainly because they are in complementary distribution. They're not truly different phonemes.I do think the dialogue about /x/ and /?/ is superfluous. I checked numerous WIKI-webpages and though the a person suggests that /x/ is wrong another suggests /x/ is
